Powerbook slow when network services active

Hi.

I saw a report in the yellowdog-newbies list of
somebody who had problems with his iBook slowing down
when network interfaces eth0, eth1 were active. I'm
experiencing the same problem with my Pismo 400MHz.
When I turn off network services, it's really quite
zippy, but when the network is active, applications
take forever to launch, it takes a really long time to
log in to GNOME, KDE, etc.

Has anybody else had the same problem?

Nick
