1. There is a firewire howto for YDL2.3 at

2. There have been some firewire related threads on this list
recently. If you have any problems with 1.) search the list
archive. You may find an answer.
3. You cannot boot linux from a firewire drive without some special
arrangements. If that is what you want, some kind soul posted
detailed instructions of how to achieve this to the list one or two
weeks ago.
