YDL 3.0/iMac DV SE - it works, but screen goes black after first successful graphical login

Kristiaan, I had _exactly_ the same problem on my iMac DV @ 400 MHz. I didn't bother 
to try to hunt for a solution to the problem, so I re-installed (I had other reasons for doing this, though)
and chose the "text-login" option. Everything works fine now. On logout the system simply returns 
to the console.
