Halting on a '99 iMac DV SE

I've got YDL 3.0 installed on my G4 PowerBook (working largely fine),
and I've just today installed it on my '99 iMac DV SE, which is going to
my mother.

I don't seem to be able to halt from Linux. It goes through most of the
shutdown messages, halts the system, and then says:

flushing ide devices hda hdb
hdb: channel busy

At which point it just sits there, never powering down.

I don't have the first idea what to do here. Help?

(The installation is basically a workstation, but with Gnome instead of
KDE.)
