I am happily using an APC SmartUPS 700XL with 'nut' software
http://www.exploits.org/nut/

You will have to hack together a cable. Here is the pinout sequence for D=
B9 to=20
MiniDin8 (not a standard serial pinout):

DB9=09=09MiniDin8
1=09-->=093
2=09-->=095
9=09-->=094
GND=09-->=09GND
