Install from Firewire CD drive?

Hi all-

I've been away from this list for about 6 mos, and I'm back. Here's why:

I've got a snow iMac that I'd like to install YDL 2.3 on. There is, 
however, a catch: the internal slot-loading CDRW drive is dead as a 
doornail. I do have, however, an external Firewire Que! Fire CDRW that 
I've used to replace the internal. Is there ANY way to install YDL on 
the iMac from this external Firewire drive? If not, is there another 
way I can install that doesn't rely on booting from the install CD?
