YDL 3.0 is out!

Hello,
I am just thinking of purchasing ydl 3.0, i have 2.3 installed and i am 
wondering when i get the discs if i have to repartition or wipe even 
the yellowdog drive? Let me rephrase that: Can i install ydl 3.0 over 
2.3 (not parallell,  i mean upgrade everything) without erasing any 
drive, i.e. can i protect the folders /home, and /opt during the 
install?
I am hoping that, but, anyway, i only want to protect those folders and 
my mac drives (no, i will not repartition) but everything else from the 
old 2.3 install can go.
