YDL 3.0 on B&W G3 - CD won't boot

YDL 3.0 on B&W G3 - CD won't boot

I've tried telling Open Firmware to boot from CD with both:

 >boot cd:,\\yaboot

  >boot cdrom:,\\yaboot

I also told Open Firmware to boot from device cd: instead of hd:

Has anyone had a similar issue and or found a resolution or workaround??

On 2.3 I resolved by putting the boot folder from the CD into OS 9's 
System folder and edited yaboot.conf, but I no longer have OS 9 
installed...
