I'm not aware of anything that will read a Retrospect archive on linux 
(other than retrospect, which I do not think has a linuc/ppc version)

Luckily there are lots of freely availible backup programs that will work 
with your tape drive!  the easiest being the in-kernel tape driver and 
tar! 

There are also lots of other scripts that will help you with backups too:
Here are three nice pretty full featured ones:
- afbackup.sf.net
- flexbackup.sf.net
- amanda.sf.net (super powerful, very complex :)
