Problems with apt-get

I remember the YDL install saying to use apt-get to update your system. 
Apt-get was the recommended way of doing it in previous YDLs. It's fine 
to have workarounds or alternatives. But considering it's one of the 
first things a user should do after installation, it does look bad for 
YDL to say "do this" and then have it fail.
