Apple Studio Display (17" LCD) woes...

Hi boys and girls,

I have had a 17" display (subject) I was never able to get working 
with YDL2.3.  So I stayed with the 15" model.

I figured that when I went to 3.0 it would be supported.

Here's what happened to me.  I installed 3.0 with the 15" attached. 
Everything was groovy.  Then I swapped in the 17" and I couldn't see 
anything, even at init 3.  No console at all.

So I figured I'd just re-install everything.  I left the 17" attached 
and booted from the install CD.  I selected the default "install-gui" 
(or just hit "enter") and was greeted with a black screen.

So I tried the other method ("install-safe"?) I got the text 
installer.  THAT worked great (though it didn't seem to have all of 
the options as the GUI) until the end where X tried to auto-config. 
Then it crashed out.  I'm sorry, I was too busy throwing things to 
write down the exact error message.

The computer would boot just fine to init 3.  As soon as I typed 
'startx" I was informed that my display couldn't be detected or 
something, and it offered to run X-Autoconfig which accomplished a 
whole lot of nothing.

So I re-ran the installer (AGAIN!) and am back to my 15" LCD.


Can anyone please tell me or point me to a how-to on how to take my 
box from a 15" display to the 17"?

PRETTY PLEASE?!?!
