You're not the only one.  Here's my previous post on the subject with

Heigh ho,

I took some pictures of the dreaded raster shift problem on the 15" 
iMac.  Note that this happened on at least TWO iMacs.  Switching 
virtual terminals and then back to X (VT-7) yields a seemingly random 
FUBAR'ed configuration.

I apologize for the flash...if you look at the Gnome Panel edges, 
you'll see what we mean.

Does anyone know what the solution to this might be?  What more 
information can we provide that would help you answer that question?
