Has anyone gotten 1024x768 in X with Rage128?

This question has been asked time and again, but never answered. 
1024x768 works fine in console mode, but in X it seems to be an alias 
for 800x600 with the fbdev driver. The r128 driver fails with a V_BIOS 
error. The kernel reports the card as "Rage 128 Pro PF" on a Sawtooth 
MB. Incidentally, 1024x768 is the resolution anaconda worked in, so 
it's obviously possible.
