yum update induces instability

Thanks for the pointer, Chris.  Yes, now I do want to install all 
those fixes!

I would have expected some sort of email on the subject to the 
"yellowdog-updates" mailing list.  (I got a reminder on Sept 1 that 
I'm still subscribed to that list -- so if they sent out a 
notification I should have seen it.)  Did somebody slip up, or do I 
need to speak sharply with my spam filter for inappropriately 
censoring my mail?
