Missing drives

My new yd 3.0 seemed to install fine on my 2x1.25GHz Mac, but there is a
problem with removable media drives.  According to the messages at
startup, it finds the DVD as well as the USB zip and USB floppy, and all
of them show up in the info provided by the KDE control center.  But
none of them are listed in /etc/fstab (one of the startup messages says
that updating /etc/fstab failed), and I can't mount any of them.  I
can't even get the DVD's door to open.  Has anybody else had this
problem?
