Dear Dr. Sacco:
I know that YDL 4.0 is brand spanking new. However eventually there
will be sites with slightly different libraries (such may also already
exist), packages and so on while containing the YDL 4.0 base
installation. It is possible to modify yum.conf which exists within
/etc such that yum explores, and collects both the headers, files and
all associated dependencies available in all these sites simultaneously
giving you the choice of deciding whether you wish to install what it
finds or not.

When you arrive at that decision (note whatever yum lists as available
and what is installed; obviously what it lists as available is not what
is yet installed) yum will install it for you with you having to mess
with rpm ever again.

If you wish a more thorough discussion regarding modifying yum and other
subjects you may find it on the YDL FAQ site located at:
