VDQ on Firefox : Unix keyboard how?

When I put my cursor at the left end of the location field (if that's what
Firefox calls it) and hit ^k, it should clear the field. Instead, it
throws me into the googlefield.

This is trivial to fix in Opera, and long has been. Maybe it is in Ffx 1.0
too, but I don't find it. :-(
