Since there is some confusion here, I verified:
ls /lib/modules/2.6.9-1.ydl.8/kernel/sound/ppc/
results in
/lib/modules/2.6.9-1.ydl.8/kernel/sound/ppc/snd-powermac.ko
So it should be with a hyphen not an underscore. I was wrong (as is my
configuration), Joseph is correct.
Sorry for the confusion.
