Help with L2 G3 Newertech upgrade?

I spent a lot of time trying to get my sonnet crescendo G3 L2 card
to work and it was mostly a waste of time. Recompiled the kernel,
and everything I could think of.

At one point I did have it working but it required that I remove certain
PCI hardware cards. Can't remember the exact combination.

Frankly, I wouldn't even bother trying to upgrade the 6400 with
the intention of using Linux.

If you're looking for a cheap solution, pick up a used PowerMac
PCI based Mac and then you will be able to use an upgrade card.

I got a 7600 for $20 at the thrift store, and put in an upgrade card
and it's been a champion server for the last year or two. Plus, you
can jam a lot more memory in these machines.

If you still insist on trying to get it to work I would pull out all the
cards, including the G3 upgrade, make sure it works, and then
start adding cards back in, starting with the G3 upgrade. You
might even have to pull some memory if I recall correctly.
