I highly recommend installing their apt packages which can be found here:
http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/yellowdog/3.0/apt/

Then as root do:

apt-get update
apt-get install mplayer

'apt-get' will resolve all the dependencies and tell you what it needs to download.

For the graphically minded, there is a GUI frontend to apt-get called 'synaptic' which can
be installed simply by typing:

apt-get install synaptic

<sacrilege>I prefer apt-get over yum.</sacrilege>
