cats and dogs not mixing

just kinda wondering If anyone else may have encountered this prob and 
have a fix.

I've been transferring files from my YDL box (PM 7500 - original NIC) 
to my G3 running Panther and some of the files have been coming out 
bass ackwards.

Fer Instance -
Start atalk by using "/etc/rc.d/init.d/atalk start"
Mount the Dog in Panther via "afp://my.pooter.ip.add"
transfer "LaughingPenguin.png" to Panther, open it up and lo and 
behold, There is my "WillCodeForFood.png" staring back at me.
Hmmmm...
