Also try [http://ayo.freshrpms.net]. There Matthias Saou has the most
recent yum in rpm format. Why does that help? Well, he included in the
config file an entry for his (YDL) mirror as well as one for his cutting
edge builds of many great pieces of software, like mplayer, ogle, vlc,
anjuta (gnome IDE), etc...  (probably a couple hundred.

So after installing his yum, you'll be able to just 
"yum install mplayer" and you'll be on your way.
