OS X won't boot

I have a weird problem: after installing YDL 3.0 on a PowerMac G3 MT, OS
X will not start.

Now, I know about the bug that is talked about here:

http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/solutions/ydl_3.0/dual-drive-fix.shtml

and I have two IDE drives installed. However, the problem is not that I
have my first Apple partition as Apple_Bootstrap. Rather, mine says
"Apple_partition_map". On both IDE drives!

I did notice one thing: when I rebooted into an older YDL
installation, the disks had been re-mapped from /dev/hde (the second IDE
hard drive) to /dev/hdg. I set that as the root partition but the
mounting failed miserably when it looked for the partitions on /dev/hde.
So, rather then mess with rebooting, I thought I'd reinstall YDL on
/dev/hdg. I had to reformat the partitions, but I was sure I chose the
same partitions as my old YDL install.

Now my OS X boots to a blank screen (which might be an issue with a
3rd-party PCI graphics card; I may need to boot on the MoBo graphics
chip to see the error).

Any ideas?
