Liam,

Since it's only gcc that you want to install, I would just install it
from the CD.

Become the root user, install disk #1, mount the CD, and use RPM to
install the package.  I think the only dependancies are cpp, binutils,
and glibc-devel.

[ken@byteme ken]$ su -
Password:=20
[root@byteme root]# mount /mnt/cdrom/
[root@byteme root]# rpm -ivh
/mnt/cdrom/YellowDog/RPMS/gcc-3.2.2-2a.ppc.rpm

If you get an error about it requires certain packages, find them on the
CD and install them with the "rpm -ivh" command above.
