Boot floppy?

Hello,
Im thinking about creating a boot floppy for YellowDog 301. I need a
console with capacity to access the hard drive's filesystem and a text
editor. Nothing fancy at all. Just pico or vi ( I'd go for pico ) and
'su' (?) to allow modification of the files on the hard disk(s) via root
privileges...

This can be a great solution to those Beige G3's and their SCSI disks
problems.
