YDL 3.0 on PowerBook 15" Radeon 9700?

Hello Linuxers,

after a physical damage of my beloved TiBook (r.i.p. :-(.... I had to 
buy a very new PowerBook:
15", SuperDrive, 1.5 GHz G4, ATI Mobility Radeon 9700, 64 MB Graphic 
RAM, AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth
... when I tried to install YDL 3.0 the installation didn't even boot - 
I know, it might be a little bit too old ... but maybe one of you knows 
of a "hack" to get it up and running? Or do I have to wait for .... 
months...?
