mozilla won't start

Success! turns out my ~/.mozilla directory was empty anyway, so that 
didn't matter, but when I ran mozilla -ProfileManager, created a 
profile and then started mozilla, it works! evidently it wasn't 
recognizing that i needed a profile and just died.
