Apache woes

I'm not clear why a domain name is needed though.  In httpd.conf, the 
instructions indicate that if you don't have a domain name, to use the 
IP address.  I've done that before in a Debian distro for an m68k Mac, 
so in theory at least, I know it works,

Also, should I delete the localhost IP in the /etc/hosts file?
