Hey all,

Let me just start by saying that this is not for the faint of heart.

NOTE ALSO, all the code is ALPHA, and is what resides presently in CVS.
So, if you aren't prepared for some app to be missing features (like the
Evolution I mentioned, while looking GREAT, has NO address-book as of
yet), but that's the price of being at the BLEEDING EDGE.

Things to take into consideration if your gonna do this:
	- It takes LOTS of space, my whole build directory is about 3GBs
	- It is not a replacement for any software on your system, it's meant
to be used to explore, review, tease your friends, etc.
	- It should be installed in a non-critical part of your system (mine is
installed in /opt/gnome2/
	- It may consume a lot of your time to get it all done, like a couple
of weeks if your machine is old-gen.
	- I did this because I needed >=gtk2.3.2 in order to work on a thesis
for which I'm using java-gnome2.5.6, and so didn't have much choice

All to say that YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Fortunately the documentation is not bad, and the process is pretty
straight forward.

The first step is to get, build and install jhbuild. This is pretty easy
and took me about 10 mins including the download.

http://www.daa.com.au/~james/software/jhbuild/

then, as you are reading the README file to learn the system, start the
build. It will automatically download all the needed sources from CVS
and all dependencies are handled by jhbuild, you have to make sure that
you run the bootstrap option in the README first.

Anyway, it's all there in the docs.

Good Luck,

I can help a little, provided I have time, I'm near the end of my
semester and in high Thesis mode so...
