My dear Clinton,
Anyone who has spent considerable amount of time with me knows I
bemoan the price of everything. :) My fiancee hates this fact about
me. The flip side to that is that it forces me to look for quality.
I'm willing to shell out some bucks if there is a better chance then
not the product I buy will last. For example, I once payed what I
felt was an arm and a leg for a Chevy Pick up truck, after 12 years
it's still humming. Original engine and tranny. It has 550K miles
on it, all put on the truck by me. And when it gets cold here in
Chicago, it's the only vehicle on my block that starts. Would I pay
US4500-6000$ for a computer, probably not, unless you could convince
me that it's gonna last more than 2 years. I chose 2 years because
that seems to be the avg. life expectancy of a peecee. Convince me
that it'll last at least ten and it's extremely upgradeable. I would
seriously consider paying for it. Until then, I'll stick to my old
world macs and my crappy iBook that I bought from my employer for 20
bucks a piece. My 6500 doesn't even have a L2Cache uprgade card,
yet.
