First, a correction on my setup: I'm running a 350mhz, not the original
333mhz, iMac. It uses the ATI Rage 128 VR/RL card, apparently AGP.
This should support 3D acceleration using the r128 module.

In my /etc/X11/XF86Config file, I've (1) uncommented the "load DRI"
line; (2) specified r128 under the "DEVICES" section; (3) eliminated
"load fbdevhw" from the "MODULES" section; and (4) attempted to specifiy
my BusID and ChipID under "DEVICES", but I'm cloudy as how to identify
these.

Norberto suggested last week that I need to recompile the r128 module.
I've compiled kernels, but I'm assuming I need to recompile and install
this single r128module, is that correct?
