yum festival

Andrew,

I believe that yum is telling you that the currently installed xsane-gimp
et.al. require libgimp-1.2, and can't update them because the (freshrpm?)
repository doesn't have updates for them.

As I recall (at least for the freshrpm yum repository), there is an update
for gimp-1.2 up to gimp-1.3, but the updates don't include updated packages
for xsane-gimp, perl-gimp, and the like. I avoided the rpm upgrade because
gimp-1.3 does not have the gimp-print plugin ported yet (neither does
gimp-2.0, as far as I know), so I ended up upgrading everything but the
GIMP.

Hope this helps.

BTW, I don't know how to exclude updates for particular packages using yum,
so I just did a "yum check-update" and did a yum update for all the packages
that I know I wanted.
