Coda in kernel 2.4.22-2f?

I want to mount WebDAV servers on my YDL 3.01 system. konqueror will
access them, but that doesn't make them available to other programs. I
assume I need davfs2, which I downloaded and built. But, it comes up
with an error when I try to mount a share:

Can't find pid file : /tmp/davfs0.pid
Error opening /dev/davfs0. Error no = 19
Probably, your kernel dosen't support Coda.

Anyone have ideas about this one? Does this mean there's another custom
kernel build in my future?
