meaning of "bad status at DMA end" message when burning cd

(Using ydl 3.0.1 with no modifications other than sudo yum update ....)

I have just burned my first CD under ydl, an ISO image, and I noticed profuse
(10-14 per second) repetitions of these messages in /var/log/messages:

May 10 13:09:41 kevinheaven kernel: hdc: bad status at DMA end, dstat=8400
May 10 13:09:41 kevinheaven kernel: hdc: timeout waiting ^I^I^Ifor dbdma
command stop

Somehow they don't sound like they bode well for the burn. Is this true?

I have an 867 MHz PowerPC G4 with PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-103 1.90. (/dev/hdc is
the DVR-103.

I first used gtoaster, then ran cdrecord by hand.

Thanks for any advice,
Kevin Murphy
