First of all, kudos to suzy, Ed, norberto, clint and longman. Excellent
job on the FAQ site - for many reasons, so all I can say is "solid
gone, daddy o's"

Anyway - the reason for the post -
I do some volunteer admin stuff for a small network here (more like a
triage unit for ancient PCs really, as I spend most of my time ripping
guts out of one donated machine to use in another, re-installing
Windows when someone comletely screws a system, et. al.). Wellllll... I
finally convinced the chick who runs the lab to slowly convert to linux
and came to the realization that "my" PC was somewhere(?), had never
had linux installed, and I didn't have the foggiest as to how to set up
a samba or nfs network (I love my mac). I also promised to set up the
first linux box on Monday. Really bright, I know.

While cruising around in my convertible Google engine on this otherwise
beautiful Saturday, I stumbled across this site.
	<http://freebooks.by.ru/Linux.html>

Inevitably a newbie will ask the question, "Are there any really good
linux resources or books online?" to which inevitibly comes a reply of
"Get that O'Reilly book, <insert title here>."

Here it is. Lots of free books. It's a little dated, but in essence
linux commands are linux commands, always have been, always will be.

Thought I might share (read take a break so my brain could quit
bleeding)

Oh, Yeah. I had a kinda OT questio as well. I installed Fedora FC1 on
my i586 with 80 MB RAm and it's slower than molasses. Should I have
chosen a different distro? (For those of you in the know)

thx
