[ydl-gen] kernel access bad area

I've boot up in "linux-g5-safe" mode with an external firwire disk attached and powered up.
Then just after "Probing new harware" i get a :
kernel access bad area sig 11 [#11]

and the system hangs up afterwards.

nothing to do in such a situation, except, as i've allready done, boot-up again without the firewire ?
this appeared, as far as i remember well, after the starting up of ohci1394 hardware driver ???
