Very doubtful IMO.

In desperation trying to find certain pieces when I'm in an 
experimental mood, I've tried rebuilding some of PLD's rpms. The 
dependencies will kill you. It looks to be a well-maintained 
distribution, but I think you have to start with it to be able to use 
it in any useful way.
