modprobe.conf review

kde & gnome sys sounds work.  Kudzu is updated per "yum update kudzu"
command line.  And CD music is NG on both.  

Any other file to check?  I would think a loaded sound program would
work.  What other program might I attempt to install if nothing else
works?  

The record is no good too.  This I need for upcoming music I want to
record on my mac.  Works great on OSX
