mounting a digital camera

I have a problem with mounting my digital camera an Olympus C4000.
What I did:
tail -f /var/log/messages        I saw that  sda1 was mentioned as 
mountpoint.
mkdir /mnt/C4000
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/C4000
I created a camera icon on the desktop , wrote several mountpoints as 
there was always a message
saying : mount can't find xxxxx in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab.
In /etc/mtab is a line: /dev/sda1 /mnt/C4000

So if anybody could give me advice for the last step, that would be great.
