No Ethernet on YDL 4.0

Thanks, Derick.  I found your site and I tried google "no eth0 on 
Linux" and got a bunch of hits.  I will also try my local Linux group.  
I was hoping for some helpful hints.  I probably should not have added 
Part 2.  The solution to my problem probably has nothing to do with 
YDL, but I thought Part 2 would spark some interest... apparently not!
