yum upgrade hangs

Spundun,

Unless you're particularly wedded to your current install I would
suggest you bite the bullet and start fresh with 4.0. Upgrading to 4.0
from 3.0.1 was less than a satisfactory experience for me. It worked,
but it didn't work well. X/GNOME/KDE were fairly broken as was the GUI
updater mechanism.

Back up all your /home files, and any configuration files that you
modified and then start fresh. I ran my 3.0.1 system as an Apache web
server, Samba and AppleTalk file server and I must say the transition
*wasn't* worth it from the POV of the time I put into it vs. getting a
stable system out of it. I didn't gain any additional functionality or
stability (that _I_ use) through the upgrade. Although, from a
learning POV it was b/c I had to learn some more trouble shooting
tricks to get the servers up and running.

Eric.
