Privoxy keeps dying

Every once in a while my wife finds herself unable to do anything on her
G3 iBook running YellowDog 4.0; I go into Main Menu > System Settings >
Server Settings > Services; give it my root password; find privoxy listed
as not running; start it; save it; close the window -- and then she's OK
again. 

This is a real irritation -- to the point she's beginning to find the
machine not worth using.

Why is it happening? What ought I to do about it to fix it once and for
all??
