[ydl-gen] Kernel 2.6.17-beta

Have downloaded and installed the beta kernel
kernel-2.6.17-1.ydl.1.ppc64.rpm

I hopes it would provide me with thermal control over the fans
On my G5-PPC dualcore 2.0 GHz machine.

The fans still rev up to full speed when booring into YDL.
Is there anything else I need to do to get my G5 to be whisper quiet.
(except from turning it off)
