Oh shucks Eric, ... who on this list wouldn't want to discuss and
understand more of the intricacies of power consumption?

The information you provided and subsequent discussions regarding
conservation is more useful than all the "public service" announcements
of many power utilities peddling nuclear fission and other antiquated
and dangerous technologies. The consideration of strategies and their
implementation in an intelligent manner is a very important matter not
only for individuals but for all nations. So if the discussion
snowballs into creative engineering activity, that is better than
sponsoring the dumb and dumber fare of standard media and current
self-destructive tendencies many appear to be proud of. Linux and
intelligent engineering is what many, many people are really interested
in doing anyway; especially when it's smart and saves cash!

==========================
The origin of the word science comes from the Greek ςκιος which means
"to know". -- Martin Heidegger, Philosopher.

The scientist's religious feeling takes the form of a rapturous
amazement at the harmony of natural law, which reveals an intelligence
of such superiority that, in comparison with it, the highest
intelligence of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection.
This feeling is the guiding principle of his life and work.
-- Albert Einstein, Scientist.

Validius est naturae testimonium quam doctrinae argumentum.
Translation: The testimony of nature is of greater weight than the
arguments of learning. -- published by John Hazelrigg, Astrologer.

Alternative translation: Nature's influence or power is testimony
superior to arguments of doctrine or scholarship.
