Jake,
Can you swap drives between non-working G5 and a working one? If so,
try patching the kernel as per your direction on the working drive and
rebuild the kernel,
then try swapping it to the non-working G5 and see if will boot. TSS
might have some other suggestions....

                Rob

Subject: [ydl-gen] Can't Install YDL 4.0.1 on Power Mac G5

After creating 2 partitions on Power Mac G5 and installing Mac OS 10.4.4
on 2nd partition per the YDL 4.0.1 installation instructions I put in
YDL 4.0.1 install disk 1 and type install-g5 to start the installation
and it hangs on

I've tried installing in text mode by typing install-g5 text and I tried
install-g5 safe. They all hang in the same place. I tried YDL 4.1 and
it installs fine, however I need 4.0.1. I tried the same CD on another
Power Mac G5 and it works fine. I even tried the same CD on an Apple
XServe G5 and it works fine.

One thing that is different in the 2 Power Mac G5's is the one that is
failing is a newer G5. Did some searches on the internet and it mention
a problem with the kernel on the CD and to install a patch, but I
couldn't find anything on how to create an new iso image containing the
new patch. I'm pretty new at both MAC's and YDL so any assistance would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jake
