[ydl-gen] PS3 WiFi Ad-Hoc problem

Hello, I run YDL5 on PS3 firmware 1.5 and have currently upgraded the kernel to support the wifi PS3 card. The fact is that it seems to be not possible to configure the card for an ad-hoc network:

[root at PS3 ~]# iwconfig eth0 essid on 
[root at PS3 ~]# iwconfig eth0 essid pippo 
[root at PS3 ~]# iwconfig 
lo no wireless extensions.

The essid is not taken and the ad-hoc mode is not entered... 
What should I do?
