I realize that people have various tastes and that is why there are
various audio apps within YDL. Unfortunately, I found them all
pretty ... lame. Ugly... to express the truth of it, in my view of
course. I used Amarok for a time and was pleasantly surprised with
it's capabilities, but it couldn't accept any modifications as it
couldn't recognize windows as implemented within e17. My desperation
built up especially as I noted a rather poor version of xmms available
within the standard YDL 5 release.

So... I went to xmms.org and downloaded the latest version they had
(1.2.10) and searched for anything else they had available as plugins
such as infinity, mp3 plugins, plugins for avi, etc. Downloaded those
which interested me and rediscovered that xmms is one slick player
within YDL 5! Visually, and in every other way.

I say rediscovered because I had explored for instance stereo echo,
music visualizers, etc, as far back as YDL 2, and earlier with the
first product of TSS which had been Champion Server one. The current
version updates what it could do in the past together with new
features and looks very nice and well designed in comparison to other
available players. Although I need to hunt down
libraries to play avi within xmms, but I'm pretty satisfied otherwise.

I can't imagine what xmms would look like playing from a PS3, but I
do think that people would appreciate the variety of nifty skins
which other players don't appear to have.

Best wishes... Derick.
