Hi Billy:

It appears to me that first you need to identify if YDL even sees the
hardware that is installed; if not then the problem is really a matter
of making sure the card you have sits within or mates firmly within the
G5 properly.

I'm using YDL 6.2 from a G4 laptop so what I see is not going to match
what you should find as far as hardware details. However the tools
YDL uses to discover the hardware should be close enough.

There exists a tool within YDL called Hardware Browser or Hardware
which can be accessed by choosing System --> Hardware. Within the
Command Line Interface (CLI) it is known as hwbrowser; the quite way to
find it is:

$ whereis hwbrowser
hwbrowser: /usr/bin/hwbrowser /usr/share/hwbrowser
$ cd /usr/bin
$ ./hwbrowser

If you use the CLI remember that the app invoked this way needs to have
the terminal you invoked it from remain open. In this situation,
hwbrowser will cease or terminate if the CLI it is invoked from closes.

Once hwbrowser is open (regardless how how you choose to invoke it)
select Network Devices and whatever devices YDL actually sees will be
listed there including driver and device directory.

The ethernet port is eth0. You can make sure it is functioning by also
finding the Network Configuration app. Do Other --> Network. Then
enter your root password. The Network Configuration app should start
without any problem.
The first listing you should see is Ethernet highlighted; it is either
Active or Inactive. I use wireless so mine is inactive; you will need
to have it active so just highlight it and then choose the Activate
Button. Of course after you do this make sure that your Firewall is up
within YDL.

Let's suppose that you need to have eth0 up everytime you log into YDL
and you don't want to repeat this procedure everytime you boot. Then
while you are within the Network Configuration app then while you are
within the Devices tab, choose Edit. You'll see Activate at device
when computer starts. Be sure to cycle through the other tabs for your
device to make sure the settings are correct, this is a good time to
refer to the manual which explains your card.

Once everything is defined correctly then choose OK and the settings
will be used as you defined them every time you boot into YDL.

All the best...
