<div>I have a PS3 which connects without</div>
<div>problems to the wireless network from</div>
<div>the GameOS XMB but when I boot it</div>
<div>into YellowDog 6.1 which came</div>
<div>preinstalled on my system it</div>
<div>cannot connect to the same</div>
<div>wireless access point which</div>
<div>is in my home. Here is what</div>
<div>I do to connect:</div>

<div>I click on the YDL Button in </div>
<div>the upper left-hand corner</div>
<div>and then select</div>
<div>Applications -> Internet</div>
<div>-> Wicd Network Manager</div>
<div>(Network Manager)</div>

<div>which starts the Wicd 1.5.3</div>
<div>program from <a href="http://wicd.sf.net">wicd.sf.net</a> and</div>
<div>it offers me the a list of access</div>
<div>points among which mine is of</div>
<div>the following form:</div>

<div>> foonet 62% WPA2 AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Under Advanced Settings for the foonet</div>
<div>access point I check the "Use Encryption"</div>
<div>box and select the default "WPA 1/2 Passphrase"</div>
<div>from the drop-down menu and then in the "Key"</div>
<div>textbox I enter the same passphrase which I</div>
<div>used to connect the GameOS to my home's</div>
<div>wireless access point (say foopassword).</div>
<div>When I try to connect from wicd to the</div>
<div>wireless router/access point I see wicd</div>
<div>go through the following stages:</div>

<div>None: Putting interface down...</div>
<div>foonet: Validating authentication...</div>
<div>foonet: Obtaining IP address...</div>
<div> </div>
<div>and at this stage wicd waits for ever</div>
<div>in the Obtaining IP address phase.</div>
<div>I don't know what's wrong. When</div>
<div>I type ifconfig at a shell prompt</div>
<div>I see the interface wlan0.</div>

<div>I can also see two other access points</div>
<div>belonging to two of my neighbors with</div>
<div>one using plain WPA and the other WEP.</div>

<div>Any idea what is wrong here? Is it that</div>
<div>the version of wicd that came with YDL 6.1</div>
<div>only supports WPA and not WPA2 or</div>
<div>something? Any ideas? Should I</div>
<div>disable WPA completely on the</div>
<div>router just to get connected,</div>
<div>then update wicd or something,</div>
<div>and switch WPA2 back on,</div>
<div>or should I update the whole</div>
<div>system to YDL 6.2 (which I</div>
<div>recall claims to have better</div>
<div>Wi-Fi support)?</div>

<div>Any help with this issue is appreciated?</div>

<div>Also, I've inserted a USB key in one of</div>
<div>the two ports but have not found any</div>
<div>mount points under /mnt after this.</div>
<div>I thought a program called automount</div>
<div>would take care of this. Any ideas</div>
<div>on how I can mount the USB key?</div>
<div>I wanted to copy the output of</div>
<div>ifconfig on my box and post it</div>
<div>here but I really don't know</div>
<div>how to mount a USB pen</div>
<div>drive.</div>
