File transfer problems...

I run YDL 2.1 on a PowerMac 4400/200 with 2 20GB drives installed. I'd like
to use it as a fileserver for MP3s, etc, but when I try to copy anything
over via ANY service (appleshare, FTP, hotline, you name it, I've tried it.)
after a while it just stops transfering and eventually the finder crashes
and forces me to restart. What could possibly be the problem? Has anyone
else experienced this? Is there a possible fix?
